A 33-year-old detached house in Edogawa Ward was purchased and extensively renovated.
Originally designed as a two-family home with a unique layout, we reconfigured the floor plan to suit modern living—reducing the number of rooms and relocating the bathroom from the first floor to the second floor.
In the living room, we exposed the beams to create a higher ceiling and installed large window sashes to allow more natural light, resulting in a bright and open atmosphere.
The spacious open kitchen allows for easy supervision of children while cooking and provides enough room for the entire family to prepare meals together.
On the second floor, there is a master bedroom and a children's room. By consolidating the bathroom, laundry room, and dressing area into a single space, we improved the workflow—from undressing to washing, drying, and storing clothes.
The front yard, which originally accommodated two parking spaces, was partially transformed into a private garden. One of the parking spaces was enclosed with a concrete wall and a wooden fence, allowing direct access from the living room's sliding glass door. The wood fence and greenery block the view from the street, allowing residents to enjoy privacy while keeping the curtains open. During summer, the garden serves as a fun space where children can play in a small pool.Additionally, the exterior was repainted in a stylish gray tone, enhancing the contrast with the natural wood elements and giving the home a fresh, modern appearance.
