A 30-Year-Old Apartment in Edogawa Ward.Purchased for personal use and renovated to create a comfortable living space.
Taking advantage of the corner unit, we designed an open layout that allows ample sunlight while addressing insulation challenges with double-glazed windows.
With the theme of "a home where you can feel the materials," we used solid walnut flooring, subway tiles in the kitchen, and oil-finished wood accents on the living room walls. Special attention was given to the fittings—custom-built shoe storage made from the same walnut material as the floor, and unpainted wooden doors that the family painted themselves, adding a personal touch while reducing costs.
This ability to accommodate and suggest playful, custom solutions is a hallmark of Sakuma Architecture.
